Pets and human relationships

[this is good]
My husband and I have slightly different attitudes about dogs rightful place but not to the extent that it has ever been a major problem. I do know some people who seem quite obsessed with their pets to the extent where I could see it interfering with relationships. One friend has these two enormous dogs that have their "day beds" right next to the dining table and sleep in her room at night and galumph around the house at all hours (ie, never made to go outside even when people eating at the dining table). It is very much a case of "love me, love my (completely undisciplined and over-indulged) dogs"). Sorry if I sound like a dog hater. I am really not. I do maintain though that dogs are dogs not children.
Thanks for taking the time out to respond to this all to common issue in many household--and that includes mine:)
No worries, X. Actually thought later that I should have said it is okay to treat dogs like children provided you set appropriate boundaries for them. Even human children have to have boundaries or they end up having no friends because they have never learnt to moderate their behaviour. Same with dogs really.
Yes, just like you wrote, setting the boundaries are the most important step in bringing up puppies.
